About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Inclusive Learning Mentor to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), learning difficulties, and additional support needs to achieve their full potential. Working closely with curriculum teams, Learning Support Assistants, and external professionals, you will provide personalised support to help learners develop their literacy, numeracy, communication, independence, and employability skills. You will play a key role in creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners across a range of curriculum areas.
  • Support students to develop literacy, numeracy, communication, and study skills.
  • Assist learners in achieving their individual learning goals and EHCP outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Support learners with social, emotional, and behavioural needs where required.
  • Assist students to access classroom activities, enrichment opportunities, work placements, and community-based learning.
  • Provide personal care and mobility support where required, following individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and learner wellbeing.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people or adults with SEND, learning difficulties, or additional support needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, engage, and support learners with varying needs and abilities.
  • Understanding of inclusive practice and person-centred support.
  • A patient, flexible, and positive approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within further education, schools, specialist provisions, or care settings.
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, MLD, SLD, or complex needs.
  • Experience providing personal care and supporting learners with physical disabilities.
  • Training in manual handling, PEG feeding, medication administration, Makaton, or positive behaviour support.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, SEND, Health Social Care, or Youth Work.
