Morgan Hunt is proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking and dynamic Further Education College in London to appoint a Director of English and Maths. This is a pivotal leadership role within the College, offering the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the English and Maths provision across all campuses. Working closely with the Assistant Principal and the senior leadership team, you will be an inspiring leader with a strong background in either English or Maths, who brings multi-site management experience, having successfully led teams across various locations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate occupational competence in at least one of the programmes they oversee, ensuring high standards across the curriculum, and possess consultative, motivational communication skills that engage and inspire both staff and students.

Main Responsibilities of the Director of English and Maths:

  • Lead the strategic development and delivery of English and Maths across all campuses.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of staff across sites, ensuring optimal deployment of resources.
  • Design and develop a responsive curriculum that meets student needs, college priorities, and sector standards.
  • Manage a devolved budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the college-wide curriculum strategy.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with employers, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance provision and opportunities.
  • Drive quality through the College's improvement cycle, setting and upholding high standards.
  • Lead on growth initiatives, achieving targets within agreed timeframes.
  • Support staff development through appraisals, CPD planning, and robust performance management.

The Successful Director of English and Maths will have:

  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an educational context.
  • A strong track record of improving teaching and learning quality.
  • Experience in curriculum development, staff deployment, and budget management.
  • In-depth knowledge of English and Maths curriculum areas.
  • A clear commitment to Equality, Diversity, Safeguarding, and the Prevent duty.
