We are seeking a creative and organised Art Technician to join a college in East London on a temporary, full-time basis. You will support the delivery of engaging art and design lessons by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting both staff and students in practical sessions. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a dynamic creative environment and support learners in developing their artistic skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for art and design lessons
  • Support students and teaching staff during practical sessions
  • Maintain, clean, and organise art studios and equipment
  • Ensure safe storage and handling of materials, including hazardous substances
  • Assist with displays of student work and exhibitions
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as required
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment

About You

  • Background or qualification in Art, Design, or a related field
  • Experience working in an educational or studio environment - desirable
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of a range of art materials and techniques
  • Ability to support students in a practical learning setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting art or design courses in an FE or school setting
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in workshops/studios
  • Familiarity with a range of artistic disciplines (e.g., painting, sculpture, printmaking)
