We are looking for an experienced and motivated Electrical Supervisor to join a Direct Services team and lead a team of skilled electrical technicians in Croydon.
You will be responsible for overseeing electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections and testing, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with current legislation, industry standards and NICEIC requirements.
This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will provide technical leadership, manage workloads, support the development of your team and help ensure we consistently deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service.
Based in Croydon, the role will also involve occasional travel to support teams and colleagues in other locations when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide technical support to a team of electrical technicians.
- Plan, allocate and monitor workloads to ensure repairs and planned works are completed within agreed timescales.
- Ensure all electrical works are carried out safely and in accordance with current legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections and testing.
- Ensure works meet NICEIC requirements and support successful NICEIC assessments.
- Review electrical certification and ensure documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to technicians when dealing with complex faults or challenging electrical issues.
- Promote a first-time fix approach and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
- Monitor team performance, quality, productivity and compliance.
- Mentor, coach and develop electrical technicians to improve technical capability and performance.
- Identify training and development requirements within the team.
- Investigate technical issues, complaints and service failures and implement appropriate solutions.
- Support the implementation of changes to legislation, regulations, policies and working practices.
- Work closely with contractors, colleagues and other teams to ensure effective delivery of electrical services.
- Promote excellent customer service and ensure residents are treated professionally, respectfully and sensitively.
- Ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Participate in the emergency call-out and escalation rota as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the electrical service.
About You
You will be an experienced electrical supervisor professional with strong technical knowledge and proven supervisory experience.
You will have the confidence to lead and support a team while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and compliance. You will be organised, proactive and customer-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions.
You will also be comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for resolving technical issues, while working collaboratively with colleagues and contractors.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience supervising electrical repairs, maintenance and compliance activities within a housing, maintenance, facilities management or similar environment.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, or equivalent supervisory experience.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- AM2 certification, where applicable.
- Inspection and Testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391 or 2395.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification, such as City & Guilds 2382.
- Extensive experience undertaking electrical repairs, maintenance, inspection and testing.
- Strong knowledge of electrical regulations, NICEIC requirements, health and safety legislation and compliance standards.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing technical staff.
- Ability to diagnose faults and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Strong organisational and workload-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to customer service and quality.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
