About the Role / Job Summary: I am working with our Housing Association based in the Scottish Borders to fill the above role for a temporary period of 3 months with possible extension. This role involves providing quality housing and support services to the community. As a Welfare Benefits Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring tenants receive the welfare benefits they are entitled to, promoting awareness of financial support available, and contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential welfare benefits information and advice to tenants.
  • Promote awareness of welfare, housing, and financial benefits.
  • Collaborate with housing management on complex rent arrears cases.
  • Implement administrative systems to monitor and evaluate the service.
  • Organise benefits 'take up' campaigns and prepare information for tenants.
  • Conduct home visits to assess entitlement to benefits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and related regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in providing advice and support in welfare benefits.
  • Familiarity with social housing environments.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Education Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in social work, community development, or related fields are desirable.
  • Training in welfare benefits and housing regulations is advantageous.

Experience Requirements:
