Morgan Hunt are excited to be working with a Housing Association in the Scottish Borders in their search for a Finance Assistant to join their Corporate Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a busy team and play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation.

\n Salary & Working Arrangements\n

19.42 per hour
\n
The role is hybrid, with the position primarily office-based during the first few weeks to support onboarding, training and integration into the team.
\n
For experienced candidates who settle well into the role, there may be scope to introduce some home working by agreement. More junior candidates may be required to spend more time in the office to support their training and development. There is also flexibility to work from home when needed for appointments or other personal commitments, with prior agreement.

\n About the Role\n
\n
\n
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records while supporting the Corporate Services Manager with the administration of income and expenditure.
\n
The role will cover a broad range of finance activities, including purchase and sales ledger processing, rent collection, payroll, banking and reconciliations. You will need to have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.

\n Key Responsibilities\n
\n
\n

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date rent accounts, including processing payments, refunds, BACS payments and Housing Benefit overpayments.
- Process supplier invoices, purchase orders and payments in line with relevant procedures.
- Raise invoices and follow up outstanding payments, including void property and landscaping charges.
- Process direct debits and standing orders.
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations.
- Reconcile the purchase ledger and petty cash.
- Calculate and arrange payment of staff salaries.
- Process monthly council tax payments for void properties.
- Administer subcontractors' liability insurance.
- Process and administer insurance claims.
- Maintain accurate financial records and electronic and manual filing systems.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts.
- Provide general finance and administrative support to the Corporate Services team.

\n About You\n
\n
\n
We are looking for someone who has experience working within a financial environment and is confident managing a range of finance-related duties.
\n
You will ideally have:
\n

- Relevant financial qualifications or significant experience within a finance environment.
- Experience using finance software and Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience using a payroll system or payroll package.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A flexible and positive approach to work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and make day-to-day decisions within agreed procedures.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
