Applicant requirements:
- Several years in a challenging external communications role with demonstrable track record in media relations, writing and implementing media strategies
- Expertise in crisis communications and high profile issues management
Key Skills/Capabilities required:
- Excellent writing skills (press releases, briefings, articles, blogs)
- Absorbing complex information quickly and communicating it in an accessible way
- Ability to anticipate and map challenging reputational issues likely to cause media interest and apply a strategic focus on supporting the policy outcome
- Ability to understand how the media will perceive the organisation's decisions and craft effective messages in response
- Proactive attitude to building and nurturing excellent external contacts
- Dealing with competing priorities and media deadlines calmly under pressure
- Diligence on reporting/logging conversations and evaluating success
