Morgan Hunt are working with an Edinburgh based consultancy who are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their growing team in Scotland. You will play a key role in delivering innovative, high-quality civil engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including infrastructure, energy, water, transportation, and development sectors. This is an opportunity to take technical ownership, influence design standards, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and specification of civil engineering works, including drainage, highways, earthworks, utilities, and external works.
- Produce and review detailed drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports to a high standard.
- Manage and coordinate design activities across multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and integrated project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK and Scottish standards, regulations, and industry best practice.
- Undertake design reviews, checking and approving subcontractor and third-party designs.
- Contribute to project planning, risk management, and cost-effective design solutions.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to support successful project outcomes.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical development and continuous improvement.
- Promote sustainable design principles and innovative engineering approaches.
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Significant experience across multiple sectors.
- Strong technical expertise in areas such as drainage design, earthworks, highways, and utilities.
- Proficiency in relevant design software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage etc).
- Excellent understanding of UK design standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines.
