The University of Aberdeen is undertaking a major transformation programme to modernise its Student Management System (SMS), with the goal of simplifying processes, adopting modern technologies, and enhancing the student experience. To support this multi-year initiative, the university is recruiting a Programme Manager and a Business Systems Analyst to help deliver a comprehensive new system. These roles are initially fixed-term until mid-October 2027, with the intention to extend subject to approval.

This role is looking for an experienced Project / Programme Manager with a strong background in delivering complex projects and business change initiatives, ideally within Higher Education.

Key requirements include:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience
  • Qualifications/experience in PRINCE2 and ITIL Foundation
  • Significant experience managing projects and programmes using formal methodologies
  • Strong planning, dependency management, and delivery skills
  • Experience using project tools including Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver business change
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation and people-management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable experience includes:

  • Programme management qualifications such as MSP
  • Higher Education sector experience
  • Knowledge of student management systems
  • Experience with procurement, vendor management and contract lifecycle management
