Associate Publications Director in Windsor

Salary: £60,000 Basic + Benefits

We're partnering with a leading international scientific and professional organisation to recruit an Associate Publications Director to lead its Publications and Clinical Practice Guidelines portfolio.

This is a senior publishing leadership opportunity with responsibility for a diverse range of scientific and educational content, including peer-reviewed journals, clinical practice guidelines, digital publications, video-based educational content, podcasts and webinars.

The successful candidate will combine strong scholarly publishing expertise with team leadership, stakeholder management and commercial awareness, taking responsibility for the editorial, operational and financial performance of the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Publications and Guidelines team, managing and developing four direct reports.
• Develop and deliver the organisation's publications and Clinical Practice Guidelines strategy.
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of peer-reviewed journals, digital publications, educational content, podcasts and webinars.
• Work closely with Editors-in-Chief, editorial boards, senior leadership, subject matter experts and external publishing partners.
• Identify opportunities for portfolio growth, innovation, revenue generation and cost efficiencies.
• Develop sponsorship and commercial opportunities across publications, digital content, podcasts and webinars.
• Lead annual publications strategy meetings and contribute to the development of new publishing initiatives.
• Monitor developments across scholarly publishing, scientific communication and digital content to identify emerging opportunities.
• Work with Marketing to develop campaigns that increase engagement with publications, guidelines and related educational content.
• Drive editorial campaigns, content collections and cross-promotional initiatives across the portfolio.
• Review and improve editorial and publishing processes, documentation and operational workflows.
• Support Editors-in-Chief and editorial boards on strategic, operational and publishing matters.
• Analyse portfolio performance and provide reports, insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Represent the publications function at internal, editorial and external meetings.

Skills & Experience:

We are looking for an experienced scholarly publishing professional who can operate comfortably at both a strategic and operational level.

You will ideally bring:

• A minimum of five years' experience in scholarly publishing, scientific publishing, editorial management, scientific communications or a related environment.
• Strong knowledge of the scholarly publishing landscape, including peer review, journal publishing and publication ethics.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams, including line management, objective setting and performance management.
• Experience working with Editors-in-Chief, editorial boards, senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and external partners.
• Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify opportunities for portfolio development, sponsorship and revenue growth.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a continuous-improvement mindset.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple publishing activities and stakeholders.
• Experience with publishing, editorial or content management systems.
• Knowledge of Clinical Practice Guidelines development and dissemination would be advantageous.
