A global Manufacturing company are looking for a process focussed Project Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in delivering major capital investment projects and process improvement initiatives across a modern manufacturing site.

The Role

As Project Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing projects, ensuring process systems are designed, installed, commissioned and optimised to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operation. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality and Safety teams, you'll take ownership of the technical aspects of projects from initial concept through to successful handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of manufacturing capital projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Develop User Requirement Specifications (URS) and define process, equipment, instrumentation and control requirements.
  • Produce and review key engineering documentation including process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, equipment specifications and control philosophies.
  • Evaluate, select and technically approve equipment and process technologies.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and optimise performance during ramp-up.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement process improvements using structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant and effective project delivery.
  • Contribute to technical standards, best practice sharing and continuous improvement across engineering activities.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong process engineering knowledge with excellent project delivery skills. You'll ideally have:

  • Degree qualification in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering (or a related engineering discipline).
  • Experience delivering capital projects within a manufacturing or process industry.
  • Strong understanding of process design, equipment specification and process control.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation including URS, PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, start-up and process optimisation.
  • Experience carrying out root cause analysis and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Experience working within food, feed, pharmaceutical, FMCG or other regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
