A leading mechanical manufacturing organisation based in Portsmouth is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join their growing team on a permanent basis. Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for detailed inspection of components and sub-assemblies for a highly regulated set of products, completing FAIRs (First article inspection reports) and using various hand-held inspection tools to ensure every part is compliant in line with detailed design drawings.
Key duties include:
- Inspecting mechanical components and assemblies using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Performing first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections on manufactured products
- Recording inspection results and maintaining accurate quality documentation and reports
- Conducting visual inspections for quality - machining defects, corrosion, cracks, or damage etc.
- Preparing non-conformance reports (NCRs) where required
To be considered for the role, candidates will have a proven track record inspecting machined parts and sub-assemblies using various hand-held tools. You will also have experience in writing FAIRs and NCRs and would have ideally worked in highly regulated manufacturing environments for Aerospace, Defence, Marine, Automotive or Nuclear industries.
