An expanding and highly successful high volume manufacturing company is currently recruiting a Shift Production Manager to join their factory operation in Greater Manchester. The role forms part of the Production Management team and reports to the Site Operations Manager. With overall responsibility for several production areas and a shift team of 2 direct reports and approximately 18 reports, the position focuses on coaching, continuous improvement, and applying change.
This is a shift-based opportunity on double days, weekly rotating Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm/2pm to 10pm. The key day-to-day activities for the role include:
- Organising the resource in your department appropriately against the demands of the business.
- Managing and developing employees through technical coaching, behavioural guidance, leadership, and empowerment.
- Working closely with the Production Planning team to ensure that Customer Orders are produced.
- Leading by example to ensure that site standards for EHS, Quality & GMP are maintained at all times.
- Reporting equipment failures/issues to ensure they are fit for purpose and do not present a risk.
- Contributing to and leading CI activities & using problem-solving processes to resolve issues in all factory areas.
- Providing support to other Shift teams during planned Manager holidays and absence.
The position involves daily collaboration with the other Shift team, Quality, Engineering, and HR, so excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential. Previous experience managing a production operation on shift is also essential, ideally gained in a high volume manufacturing or continuous process environment. Experience of driving a culture of Continuous Improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, WCM, 5S) in a manufacturing setting is also key to this role, as would a formal H&S qualification (IOSH). The position comes with an annual bonus, 26 days holiday, matched pension scheme, and Private Healthcare.
