Morgan Architects is an award-winning Architecture and Interior Design practice based in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. Our talented team work on a variety of innovative high-end workplace, residential, and hotel interior projects. This is a full time, permanent position, based in our Edinburgh studio, 5 days a week.
Your Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- 8+ years’ experience with a focus on workplace and hotel design.
- Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and a talent for sophisticated design, including graphics.
- Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, and MS Excel.
- Experience of Revit is an advantage but not essential.
- A deep understanding of appropriate materials, textures, durability and sustainability, and balancing client preferences with practical considerations that align with budget and programme.
- Experience of working to UK standards and regulations.
- Experience of procurement, bespoke design, preparing and managing schedules.
- Experience of working with budgets and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to build effective relationships.
The Role
- In this key role, working alongside the Interior Design Director initially, you will ensure both aesthetic and functional aspects of interior spaces meet our clients' specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines.
- Collaborating closely with clients, architects, and contractors, and guiding our internal interiors team your responsibilities are to:
- Develop initial design concepts that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and within budget for clients, including space planning.
- Create detailed drawings and 3D models using REVIT and InDesign software to visualise design plans and create presentations.
- Select and specify furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and materials, coordinating with vendors and suppliers for procurement.
- Oversee project timelines and coordinate with contractors, architects, and other professionals to ensure design elements are executed accurately and on schedule.
- Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of projects, ensuring that construction and installation align with design specifications.
- Prepare and manage budgets for interior design projects, including estimates for design hours, furnishings, and materials.
- Provide expert guidance on building codes, regulations, and accessibility standards to ensure compliance in design projects.
- Mentor junior designers, offering guidance on design techniques, project management, and client relations to foster their professional growth.
- Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with everyone in the design team.
- Maintain an excellent knowledge of interior brands and building supplier relationships.
- Instilling confidence in clients through excellent professional customer service.
