What's the job?
- You'll work across growing, technical, compliance and innovation, ensuring crops are produced to the highest standard while supporting the wider production team.
- Leading and supporting the growing team with daily husbandry tasks - watering, spraying and monitoring crop health.
- Ensuring crops meet strict quality standards and remain pest- and disease-free through effective biological and chemical programmes.
- Managing compliance across APHA, SMETA, LEAF and OHAS, keeping documentation accurate and up to date.
- Working closely with suppliers, customers and industry bodies, representing the business professionally at HTA, BOA, NFU and similar groups.
- Overseeing growing equipment, reviewing processes and trialling new techniques or technologies to drive efficiency and quality.
- Supporting apprentices and helping develop the next generation of growers through coaching and hands-on guidance.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on being visible in the nursery and enjoys everything from practical problem-solving to big-picture thinking.
What do I need?
- Exceptional plant knowledge and commercial growing experience.
- Experience in a plant production environment (ornamentals ideal, but open).
- Strong understanding of APHA, SMETA, LEAF OHAS compliance.
- Confident communication skills across all levels.
- Experience leading teams and supporting their development.
- A curious, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge mediocrity.
- The ability to represent the business professionally at industry bodies.
