An established independent garden centre is looking for a hands-on Plant Area Supervisor to lead its plant department and growing operation at its Wymondham site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong plant knowledge and growing experience who enjoys leading by example. You'll oversee a small team of 4 staff, maintain high retail standards, and play a key role in the production and sale of homegrown plants.

The Role

  • Leading and developing a team of 4-5 colleagues.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the retail plant area and plant growing operation.
  • Maintaining excellent plant quality and presentation standards.
  • Supporting stock management, merchandising and seasonal displays.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service and sharing expert plant advice.
  • Training and supporting less experienced members of the team.
  • Working closely with the wider garden centre team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

As this is a traditional garden centre, the role is varied. During quieter horticultural periods, you'll be expected to support other departments.

About You

  • Has strong horticultural and plant production knowledge/experience.
  • Has experience supervising or leading a team.
  • Is customer focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Is reliable, hardworking and leads from the front.
  • Enjoys being part of a close-knit team while taking ownership of their department.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Five-day working week.
  • Working two out of every three weekends.
  • Typical hours are around 9:00am-5:00pm, with flexibility required during busy periods.

Salary & Benefits

£30,000-£33,000 depending on experience. Opportunity to join a well-established, family-run garden centre with a strong reputation for quality homegrown plants and excellent customer service.
