Are you an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact? I am working with an established fresh produce business supplying leading supermarket and processing customers through modern production facilities and distribution operations. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a proactive HSE Manager to lead and develop safety, environmental and sustainability standards across the site.
The Role
This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for driving a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance and leading continuous improvement across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and delivering the site Health & Safety improvement plan.
- Completing audits, inspections and risk assessments (including COSHH, PUWER, DSE and manual handling).
- Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
- Delivering HSE training, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Managing contractor compliance, permits to work and RAMS reviews.
- Maintaining HSE records, reporting and compliance standards.
- Supporting environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Managing and developing the Health & Safety Advisor.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong background in fresh produce, food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment. You will have experience operating in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, with the confidence to engage with teams at all levels and drive positive change. You will ideally have:
- 4+ years' experience in Health & Safety within manufacturing/production.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or working towards Level 6 Diploma).
- Affiliate IOSH membership (working towards Cert IOSH).
- Experience delivering HSE training and completing risk assessments.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, organisational and influencing skills.
