About the Role
We’re working with a highly respected fresh produce business seeking an experienced Senior Technical Manager to join their established Technical Team. This is a key, customer-facing role where you’ll work closely with UK and global suppliers, internal teams, and major retail customers to ensure the safety, quality, legality and sustainability of products across the supply chain. You’ll play a pivotal part in maintaining high technical standards while driving continuous improvement and supporting innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical champion for food safety, quality and compliance across the business
- Lead on product quality, shelf life, specifications and customer complaints
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, legality, customer specifications and codes of practice
- Own and maintain technical due diligence, including risk assessments, HACCP and specifications
- Ensure robust traceability systems aligned to customer and certification requirements
- Develop and deliver Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) with suppliers
- Support the Innovation Team on varietal development, packaging and new product launches
- Contribute to cross-functional value optimisation projects
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks in produce safety and sustainability
- Support and embed the company’s ESG strategy
- Act as the main technical contact for allocated customers
- Conduct UK and overseas supplier visits and audits, developing supplier capability
- Manage and coordinate internal, customer and third-party audits
About You
- Proven experience in a fresh produce, senior customer-facing technical role
- Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
- A proactive team player with a collaborative mindset
- Highly organised, analytical and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Confident decision-maker with strong attention to detail
- Passionate about fresh produce, sustainability and innovation
