We're working with a well-known business in the agricultural industry who are looking to bring a Senior Crop Protection Specialist into their team. The business operates as an agricultural buying group, bringing together farmers and businesses to use their collective buying power to secure competitive prices on agricultural inputs and services. Working on behalf of its members, the team helps them make savings, access the right products and get the most from their purchasing. It's a business built around relationships, value and understanding what farmers actually need. It's a varied role that brings together crop protection knowledge, procurement and customer relationships. You'll be working with farmers, agronomists and suppliers, helping members get the best value from their purchases, providing technical advice and making sure everything runs smoothly along the way. It's a good opportunity for someone who knows their way around crop protection and enjoys the commercial side of the industry, as well as the technical side. What will you be doing? Building relationships with existing members and getting out to meet prospective new ones, showing them the benefits and savings available. Providing technical advice on crop protection products and helping members find suitable, cost-effective alternatives. Keeping members and agronomists up to date with new products, industry developments and any regulatory changes. Working alongside the procurement team to negotiate prices and secure competitive deals across crop protection, fertiliser and seed. Looking after customer orders and enquiries, liaising with suppliers and making sure everything is dealt with accurately and on time. Using internal systems and data to look at member accounts, identify opportunities and help drive growth. Organising technical briefings for agronomists, visiting members and suppliers and getting along to relevant industry events. What are we looking for? You'll ideally have experience in a crop protection or agronomy-related role, with a good understanding of the products and the wider industry. You'll also need to be someone who enjoys working with people and is comfortable picking up the phone, building relationships and having commercial conversations. A few other things that would be useful: A full BASIS qualification in Agriculture. Good technical knowledge of crop protection products. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Confidence negotiating and looking for opportunities to get the best deals. Good attention to detail and comfortable working with data. Someone who can organise their own workload, work to deadlines and use their initiative. What's on offer? There's a salary of up to £45,000, depending on experience, alongside a pretty good benefits package: 8% employer pension contribution. 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service. Your birthday off as an extra day's holiday (if it falls on a working day). Free lunch every day from the onsite café. Life assurance at 2 x salary. Private health insurance available as an optional benefit. Discounted gym membership and cycle to work scheme. Salary sacrifice car scheme. Hybrid working, with one/two days from home each week. Free onsite parking. If you've got a background in crop protection and fancy doing something that combines the technical and commercial sides of agriculture, it'd be great to have a chat.
