We are currently working with a growing food manufacturing business based in Romford area that is looking to appoint an experienced Operational HR Business Partner to join its team.

The business has experienced significant growth in recent years and has ambitious plans for the future. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast paced manufacturing environment, wants to take ownership of the operational HR function and is keen to progress their career as the business continues to expand.

The Role

This is a hands on, operationally focused HR Business Partner position, supporting a busy food manufacturing and warehouse operation.

Working closely with the Operations and Production teams, you will play a key role in supporting the day to day people agenda, providing practical HR advice and ensuring the business has the right people and processes in place to support its operations.

With the site operating across different shifts, flexibility will be important, particularly when supporting employees working outside standard office hours.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the operational HR function, providing day to day support across manufacturing and warehouse operations.
  • Work closely with Operations and Production managers, supporting workforce planning, labour requirements and people related challenges.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance processes, providing practical advice and guidance to managers.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, maintaining a visible HR presence on the shop floor and supporting employees across different shifts.
  • Take responsibility for HR administration and monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and the smooth running of people processes.

Required

  • Previous HR experience within food manufacturing is essential, with a strong understanding of fast paced production environments.
  • Experience in an operational HR Business Partner or similar generalist HR position, ideally supporting a large manufacturing workforce.
  • Strong employee relations experience, with the confidence to manage challenging conversations and support managers with complex people matters.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing operations, workforce planning and the challenges of managing both skilled and unskilled employees.
  • Previous experience supporting or processing payroll would be advantageous.
  • A proactive, independent and confident individual who is comfortable taking ownership of the role and making decisions.
