An established and highly successful fresh produce manufacturer is seeking a Multiskilled Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment where engineering plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality products. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, reducing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and packaging equipment.
- Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and production issues.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
- Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and modification work.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS systems where required.
- Liaise with contractors and external suppliers when necessary.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Multi-Skilled, HNC, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Previous experience within food manufacturing, fresh produce, FMCG, packaging, or a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and reliability engineering.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
