This is a great opportunity for an experienced Plant Area Manager, Plant Supervisor or Assistant Plant Manager looking for their next move.
You'll be taking responsibility for a high-performing plant area within a well-established garden centre group, leading a knowledgeable team and having real influence over how the department operates, from buying and stock management through to presentation, sales and customer experience.
If you're commercially minded, know your plants and enjoy being hands-on, this could be a really good next step.
The area is a large, vibrant space with a great variety of healthy plants, and you'd be leading a strong, dedicated, and knowledgeable team!
The role
You'll be responsible for:
- Running the plant area day-to-day, ensuring high standards across stock, presentation and customer service
- Ordering and managing plant stock, working with seasonal demand to maximise availability and sales
- Leading, motivating and developing a knowledgeable plant team
- Managing plant quality, wastage and reductions to maximise sell-through
- Monitoring department performance, including sales, stock, waste and margins
- Planning and prioritising workloads around seasonal peaks
- Making sure the plant area is commercially strong, well-presented and ready for customers
- Taking on Duty Manager/keyholder responsibilities when required
What we're looking for
You'll need:
- Strong plant and horticultural knowledge
- Previous experience within garden retail/plant retail or a similar environment
- Experience leading or supervising a team
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of sales, stock and margins
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of a department
- Good organisation and communication skills
