Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to lead environmental and social governance in a dynamic, fast-paced fresh produce business? I am looking for a driven ESG / Sustainability Manager to shape and deliver the environmental strategy, ensuring compliance, innovation, and impact across the business operations. There are multiple sites across the width and depth of the UK, which you will have to travel to (there will be stay aways required) and work with to ensure the ongoing strategy integration. The business is a forward-thinking fresh produce business committed to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and continuous improvement. You will be part of a team that values innovation, transparency, and making a real difference in the food supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, including internal and external audits.
- Act as the go-to expert for energy, carbon, waste, water, and environmental compliance, driving cost-saving initiatives and sustainable practices.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation—from CEO to shop floor—to embed ESG principles into their culture.
- Produce clear, engaging sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders, including their Modern Slavery Statement.
- Monitor and interpret legislative changes, ensuring the business remains ahead of regulatory requirements.
- Travel to sites and partners as needed to support ESG implementation and collaboration.
About You
- Proven experience managing ISO 14001 systems and leading audits.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Technically proficient in environmental and energy topics, with a strategic mindset.
- Excellent written communication skills for reporting and policy development.
- Proactive, adaptable, and willing to travel to support our ESG goals.
- Some ideals would be Food / Fresh Produce experience, understanding of scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon measurement, but not essential.
