Finance Excellence Manager | Lincolnshire | £DOE
We're working with a business looking to appoint a Finance Excellence Manager to drive continuous improvement across its finance function, with a particular focus on inventory accuracy, process optimisation and project delivery.
This is a varied, hands on role combining finance transformation, inventory accounting and systems improvement. You'll lead projects from business case through to implementation, strengthen financial controls and work closely with finance, operations, procurement and digital teams to improve processes and ensure data is accurate, consistent and reliable.
A key part of the role will be taking ownership of inventory reconciliations across multiple systems, identifying root causes of discrepancies and implementing sustainable solutions to improve accuracy and control.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the finance improvement plan, delivering projects from initial business case through to implementation.
- Manage project plans, budgets, resources, risks and stakeholder communications, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.
- Own monthly inventory reconciliations across ERP and operational systems, ensuring stock quantities and values agree and reconcile to the general ledger.
- Investigate stock discrepancies, identify root causes and work with operational teams to implement corrective actions.
- Oversee month-end and year-end inventory reconciliations, supporting accurate valuation, financial reporting and audit requirements.
- Develop inventory accuracy KPIs and drive improvements in stock control, reconciliation processes and data quality.
- Review end-to-end inventory processes, identifying control gaps, duplication and opportunities for automation.
- Improve sales order processing and self-billing, supporting accurate and timely accounts receivable transactions.
- Support system enhancements, master data standards, testing and implementation across finance and operational systems.
- Work collaboratively with finance, operations, procurement and digital teams to embed improved processes and strengthen financial controls.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or a similar project management qualification.
- A proven track record of delivering finance projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong experience in inventory accounting, stock reconciliations and stock control, ideally within agriculture, food production or manufacturing.
- Experience working with ERP and operational systems; Epicor, xFarm or Blackcat experience would be advantageous.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to work confidently with large data sets.
- Excellent problem solving skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to get to the root cause of issues.
- The confidence to influence stakeholders across finance and operational teams, manage competing priorities and drive change.
We're looking for someone who combines strong financial control and analytical skills with a practical, solutions focused approach. You'll be comfortable challenging existing processes, building relationships across the business and delivering improvements that make a tangible difference.
If you're a qualified finance professional with experience in inventory, systems and project delivery, and you're looking for a role where you can drive meaningful business improvement, I'd be keen to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch on Angus@morepeople.co.uk OR on 01780 480530
