Are you an experienced irrigation professional looking to take ownership of irrigation and fertigation across a commercial fruit operation? This is a permanent (or semi-permanent) opportunity within a well-established farming business, offering a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced growing environment.
What's the Job?
As Irrigation Team Leader, you'll be responsible for managing all automated and manual irrigation systems, ensuring crops receive optimal water and nutrient inputs throughout the season. You'll lead the irrigation team and work closely with farm management to drive efficiency and crop performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing automated and manual irrigation systems across all crops
- Implementing and monitoring fertigation programmes (EC, pH, nutrients)
- Inspecting, maintaining and repairing irrigation infrastructure
- Carrying out crop walks and soil moisture monitoring
- Leading, training and scheduling the irrigation team
- Maintaining accurate irrigation, maintenance and water usage records
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety and biosecurity standards
- Supporting new irrigation projects and continuous improvement initiatives
What do I need?
- Proven experience managing irrigation systems (soft and/or stone fruit)
- Experience with Priva irrigation systems
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Confident people manager with good communication skills
- Comfortable working weekends and longer hours during peak season
- Proficient with basic IT systems (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Desirable: PA1, PA2a, PA3a, PA6
- Experience using Muddy Boots farm management software
