The Role

You’ll work closely with the General Manager and Operations Manager, playing a key role in the next phase of development at this established nursery. As the Nursery Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing day-to-day nursery operations and leading a team to ensure the smooth running of plant maintenance, presentation, and dispatch.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and motivating the nursery team, ensuring efficient workflows and clear communication.
  • Overseeing irrigation, feeding, trimming, and pest and disease management across a wide range of crops
  • Organising and monitoring spray programmes and cultural care schedules
  • Working closely with technical, operations, and stock control teams to meet production and dispatch targets.
  • Maintaining high standards of plant quality, presentation, and site organisation
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety procedures, and crop protection regulations
  • Supporting seasonal planning and workload allocation, ensuring the team is resourced effectively.
  • Driving consistency and continuous improvement across all areas of nursery management

This is a practical, people-focused role. Ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven nursery environment.

About You

  • Strong background in commercial nursery production, growing, or operations, looking to move or step up into a Nursery Management role.
  • Confident people manager with experience leading and developing teams.
  • Solid understanding of plant husbandry, crop maintenance, and pest and disease control
  • Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise in a busy, changing environment.
  • Comfortable managing processes, planning workloads, and maintaining records.
  • IT literate (Excel and Word essential)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexible with weekend work on a rota basis
