The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to join a long-established, successful manufacturing business supplying products to some of the UK's leading retailers. The business is entering a new phase of development and is looking for someone who wants more than simply maintaining standards. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, improve systems, develop people and build a strong SHEQ culture within a growing SME environment. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will become a key member of a close-knit leadership team, working alongside senior stakeholders across operations, supply chain, logistics and finance.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading the company's SHEQ agenda, ensuring compliance, supporting operational excellence and driving continuous improvement across the site. Key responsibilities include: Managing and developing integrated SHEQ management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Leading internal and external audits, ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness. Acting as the main point of contact for customers, technical teams, regulatory bodies and certification organisations. Driving improvements across quality, safety, environmental and compliance performance. Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions. Conducting risk assessments and identifying opportunities to improve operational practices. Producing meaningful SHEQ reports, trend analysis and improvement plans for senior leadership. Supporting customer audits, technical enquiries and retailer compliance requirements. Promoting a proactive culture where behavioural safety, accountability and continuous improvement are embedded throughout the business. Managing and developing a Quality Administrator while ensuring responsibilities are effectively delegated and supported.
About You

You may already be operating in a SHEQ, Quality, Compliance, Technical, HSE or similar management position, or you could be a strong advisor or coordinator looking for your first genuine management opportunity. Have worked with ISO management systems and compliance frameworks. Can confidently engage with customers, auditors and external stakeholders. Enjoy developing others and creating a positive working culture. Bring both emotional intelligence and technical credibility. Are naturally curious, questioning and committed to continuous improvement. Industry background is flexible.
