Are you a hands-on retail leader with a passion for merchandising, commercial performance, and creating exceptional customer experiences? We're looking for an Assistant Shop Manager to play a key role within a thriving garden retail business.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious retail professional who enjoys variety, leadership, and responsibility. Working closely with the Shop Manager, you'll help drive sales, maintain high retail standards, support buying decisions, and lead a successful team across a diverse range of departments, including Leisure, Christmas, and Shop Merchandise.
The RoleAs Assistant Shop Manager, you will support the day-to-day operation of the retail departments, ensuring customers receive an outstanding shopping experience while delivering strong commercial results.
- Assist the Shop Manager in the leadership and development of the retail team.
- Take responsibility for the Leisure, Christmas, and Shop Merchandise departments.
- Cover the buying process, including product selection, stock management, and supplier relationships.
- Drive sales through effective merchandising, promotions, and seasonal displays.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure departments remain well-presented and fully stocked.
- Lead by example on the shop floor, delivering excellent customer service.
- Help manage rotas, performance, training, and team development.
- Support the delivery of budgets, KPIs, and commercial objectives.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and operational compliance.
- Act as Duty Manager when required and provide cover for the Shop Manager during absences.
