Ready for your next step in Quality? Are you an experienced QA professional looking to take the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity to join an expanding Quality team, where you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of product quality, food safety and compliance. This is more than a traditional QA position. Reporting directly to the QA Manager, you will take ownership of a broad range of quality and technical activities, work closely with the wider technical function and gain valuable experience across audits, CAPA, product quality, traceability, training and continuous improvement. Most importantly, this role has been created with career progression in mind. The plan is to develop the successful candidate towards a Technical Assistant or similar technical role from January 2027, subject to performance and successful development.

If you’re ambitious, proactive and ready to broaden your technical experience, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

What you’ll be doing

  • Customer Complaints: Monitor, investigate and trend customer complaints, identifying recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Calibration: Take responsibility for the calibration and control of quality equipment, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • GMP Auditing: Conduct and coordinate GMP audits, ensuring standards are maintained and actions are followed through.
  • Internal Audits: Assist with internal audits and support the site in maintaining a high level of audit readiness.
  • Training: Maintain the site training matrix and coordinate training requirements to ensure colleagues have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Laboratory Testing: Coordinate the site laboratory testing schedule, ensuring testing is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Product Quality: Support Product Quality Monitoring and identify trends, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Team Support: Assist with the day-to-day supervision and coordination of the Quality Team.
  • Technical Administration: Provide technical support and administration to the Technical Manager and QA Manager.
  • PPE: Maintain appropriate PPE stock levels and ensure availability across the site.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support and lead improvement projects that strengthen quality, compliance and site performance. Promote a proactive approach to quality, food safety and health & safety at all times.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just spot problems but wants to understand why they happen and help make things better. You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience working in a QA / Quality role, preferably within food manufacturing, FMCG or fresh produce.
  • A good understanding of GMP, HACCP, food safety and quality systems.
  • Experience with non-conformance, CAPA and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience supporting or completing audits.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • The ability to analyse information, identify trends and take appropriate action.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work with people across the site.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload and manage several activities at the same time.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • A genuine commitment to quality, food safety and health & safety.

What makes this role different?

This isn’t simply a job where you’ll be asked to complete routine QA checks. You’ll be given exposure to a much broader range of Technical and Quality responsibilities, allowing you to develop the skills needed for your next career move. You’ll work closely with the QA Manager and Technical Manager, gain experience across key technical processes and have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to take on greater responsibility. The planned career pathway is to progress the successful candidate into a Technical Assistant or similar role from January 2027, subject to performance, capability and development. That makes this an ideal opportunity for someone who is already operating at Senior QA level and wants to build towards a career in Technical Management.

Why join?

You’ll be joining a team where quality matters and where your contribution can have a genuine impact. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of meaningful Quality and Technical activities.
  • Develop your technical knowledge and experience.
  • Work directly with experienced Technical and Quality management.
  • Build your auditing, investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Get involved in continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop towards a broader Technical position.
  • Take the next step in your career rather than simply moving into another QA role.

Interested? If you’re an experienced QA professional who is ready for more responsibility, wants to develop technically and has ambitions to progress, we’d love to hear from you.
