A market-leading business operating within the FMCG and retail supply chain sector is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Director to lead its UK sales function. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for strategic retailer relationships, national sales performance, and team leadership, offering significant autonomy, influence, and long-term career progression.

The Role

Reporting directly to the UK Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing the UK retailer strategy, delivering profitable growth, and leading a national field-based sales team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a national sales team
  • Managing and expanding strategic relationships with major UK retailers
  • Creating and delivering long-term customer growth strategies
  • Identifying and converting new commercial opportunities
  • Owning commercial performance, forecasting and budget delivery
  • Representing the business at senior customer and industry level

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a proven senior sales leader with extensive experience operating within UK retail and FMCG environments. Key requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience managing major retailer accounts
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing sales teams
  • Strong commercial and strategic capability
  • Confident presenting and negotiating at Director / Head of level
  • Background in FMCG supply, pooling, fresh produce, protein or retail supply chain highly desirable
