As our Health & Safety Manager, you won’t just be managing a department; you will be the driving force behind a safer, more productive workplace. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will join our Senior Management Team at a pivotal time. At first, you’ll collaborate with our part‑time H&S Manager to learn the ropes, but you will quickly step up as the primary lead for the Skelmersdale site. Your mission is clear: move us beyond compliance toward a culture of excellence as we aim for ISO45001 certification.
What your day will look like:
- Leading the Strategy: You’ll chair H&S management meetings and communicate our compliance goals to every level of the business.
- Hands‑on Oversight: From enforcing policies to enhancing risk assessments, you’ll be visible across the site, conducting regular audits and inspections.
- Continuous Improvement: When incidents or near‑misses occur, you’ll lead the investigation, prepare the reports, and most importantly, ensure we learn and improve.
- Training & Development: You will facilitate inductions and safety training, ensuring our staff and contractors are empowered to work safely.
What we need you to bring to the table:
- The Credentials: You hold a NEBOSH Certificate (or NVQ equivalent) and have a deep understanding of current H&S legislation.
- The Experience: You have 3‑5 years of experience in a dedicated H&S role, ideally within the chemical or manufacturing sectors.
- The Communication Style: You are an expert at translating complex safety requirements into clear, practical advice for everyone from shop‑floor operators to the Board.
- The Tech Skills: You are proficient with Microsoft 365 and have the ability to analyze safety data to spot trends before they become issues.
Working with us:
- Location: 100% Site‑based in Skelmersdale.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Schedule: We offer a consistent daily routine to match our production hours (e.g., 08:00‑16:00 or 08:30‑16:30) with a 30‑minute lunch break.
