  • A role focused on growing and leading people - not being stuck in the office

The Role

As Nursery Manager, you'll take full day-to-day responsibility for the site, its people, and the quality of the crops produced. You'll be the key decision-maker on the ground, ensuring plants are grown, maintained and presented to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of full-time and seasonal staff
  • Managing potting, shaping, stock presentation and general crop quality
  • Making hands-on growing decisions across shrubs, perennials and 2L production
  • Planning and overseeing irrigation strategies
  • Monitoring crops for pests, diseases, nutrition and irrigation issues
  • Maintaining high standards of plant health, biosecurity and hygiene
  • Working with the Production Manager on rotations, space planning and seasonal schedules
  • Ensuring safe working practices, COSHH compliance and accurate record keeping
  • Supporting out-of-hours cover for irrigation and spray applications when required

This is a practical, site-based leadership role - ideal for someone who wants to be out in the nursery, not behind a desk.

About You

  • Experienced in nursery production, ideally with shrubs/perennials
  • Confident leading teams and setting high standards
  • Hands-on, proactive and comfortable making independent decisions
  • Strong on plant health, irrigation and general growing practices
  • Organised, reliable and able to keep operations running smoothly
  • PA1/PA6 qualified (or willing to work towards it)

If you're currently a Team Leader, Supervisor or Assistant Manager ready for more responsibility, this could be a brilliant opportunity.
