We are recruiting a Technical Assistant to join an exciting and fast-growing fresh produce business with a genuinely innovative approach to growing. This is a hands‑on role supporting the Quality Manager and wider Technical team, playing a key part in maintaining food safety, quality, and compliance standards. You’ll be based on site within a fast‑paced FMCG environment, supporting day‑to‑day technical activities while helping to build and maintain robust quality systems as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Manager in maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with food safety, legality, quality, and customer standards
- Manage non‑conforming product, corrective actions, and investigations
- Monitor hygiene, housekeeping, traceability, allergen management, and legality
- Raise and follow up supplier non‑conformances within agreed timeframes
- Support customer complaint investigations and root‑cause analysis
- Maintain technical documentation and site document control
- Support third‑party accreditations, including BRC
Auditing, Testing & Monitoring
- Carry out internal audits including GMP and metal detection
- Support preparation for and participation in internal and external audits
- Undertake routine product testing, environmental swabbing, and sensory assessments
- Manage laboratory samples, results, trending, and follow‑up actions
- Monitor and trend KPIs, reporting findings to the management team
- Support HACCP activities and attend HACCP meetings
Technical & Site Support
- Support day‑to‑day technical and operational process controls
- Assist with training of site staff on quality and food safety standards
- Liaise with external providers where required (e.g. pest control)
- Promote and support a strong food safety and quality culture across the site
About You
- Experience in a QA, Technical, or Quality role within food manufacturing or FMCG
- Working knowledge of QA systems and HACCP
- Understanding of production and packing processes
- Knowledge of food legislation
- Organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Flexible, hands‑on approach in a fast‑paced environment
