Location: Flexible UK | Hybrid Working | Full‑time

My client is seeking an experienced Land Referencing Lead to join their nationally recognised Infrastructure team. This is a senior technical and leadership role supporting the delivery of major UK infrastructure projects across energy, utilities, transport, and renewables. The team works at the forefront of nationally significant schemes, providing land referencing, land rights, and DCO support to some of the most complex and high‑profile projects in the country. As a Lead, you'll take ownership of referencing delivery, set technical standards, and guide junior colleagues while working closely with clients, statutory bodies, and project partners. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong land referencing, GIS, land assembly, or statutory process experience who is ready to step into a role with genuine influence and progression.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the delivery of land referencing workstreams on major infrastructure projects
  • Overseeing the production of Book of Reference, land interest schedules, access plans, and statutory datasets
  • Ensuring all outputs meet DCO, CPO, and statutory requirements
  • Working closely with GIS specialists to maintain accurate spatial datasets and mapping outputs
  • Reviewing and signing off legal plans, QA/QC processes, and technical documentation
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, project partners, and stakeholders
  • Supporting early‑stage feasibility, route optioneering, and land strategy development
  • Managing timelines, risks, and dependencies across multiple workstreams
  • Mentoring and supporting junior land referencers and GIS staff
  • Contributing to bids, proposals, and wider business development activity

Projects you'll support:

  • Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs)
  • Energy transmission and distribution upgrades (substations, overhead lines, cable routes)
  • Major renewables schemes (solar, wind, hydrogen, storage)
  • Water and utilities network improvements
  • Early‑stage feasibility and route optioneering for large‑scale infrastructure

These are multi‑year, complex projects requiring high‑quality referencing and strong technical leadership.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in land referencing, land rights, land assembly, or statutory processes
  • Strong understanding of DCO, NSIP, CPO, or infrastructure planning frameworks
  • Ability to produce and review legal plans, statutory notices, and referencing datasets
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior colleagues
  • GIS capability (Esri preferred) or experience working closely with GIS teams
  • Project management experience across multi‑disciplinary teams
