We are seeking an experienced Director / Senior Surveyor to lead and develop rural property management services across a diverse portfolio of estates, farms and landholdings. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for delivering exceptional client service, overseeing junior surveyors, and driving strategic growth within the Property & Forestry department.
About the Role
You will work closely with senior leadership to manage a core base of retained estate management clients while delivering high‑quality consultancy across rural property, landlord & tenant matters, strategic planning, and negotiation of property rights. The role combines hands‑on estate management with high‑level strategic thinking, project delivery and team development. This position is ideal for a commercially minded rural surveyor ready to step into a Director‑level remit, take ownership of client relationships, and contribute to the long‑term growth of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day estate management across a varied rural portfolio
- Deliver strategic advice on landlord & tenant matters, property management and negotiation of rights
- Manage projects from inception through to completion
- Support consultancy work including compulsory purchase and negotiation of property rights
- Prepare fee proposals and quotations for approval
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior surveyors
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional development
- Build strong relationships with clients and understand their business drivers
- Identify opportunities to cross‑sell wider rural services
- Engage in business development and support departmental growth
- Maintain strong relationships with external professionals
- Ensure compliance with RICS, GDPR and internal policies

Qualifications & Experience
- MRICS qualified
- CAAV qualified or working towards
- Strong technical knowledge of rural property and estate management
- Commercial mindset with demonstrable business development experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to different audiences
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
