Join us and be part of a team making a real difference. About the Role You’ll play a key role in helping people across the borough make meaningful, long‑term changes to their health and wellbeing. As a Behaviour Change Specialist (Smoking Cessation), you’ll support individuals to stop smoking and reduce tobacco harm through evidence‑based, one‑to‑one and group interventions—both face‑to‑face and remotely. You’ll be each client’s main point of contact, guiding them through their quit journey and helping them build healthier habits around physical activity, nutrition, alcohol use and stress management. Responsibilities Plan, deliver and evaluate accessible stop smoking and harm reduction interventions. Provide specialist tobacco cessation support, assessing readiness to change and suitability for treatment. Deliver behavioural support and pharmacological advice in line with national guidelines (NICE, NCSCT, Department of Health). Provide evidence-based advice regarding vaping and support those quitting nicotine-containing vapes. Tailor support to different forms of tobacco use (e.g. shisha, chewing tobacco). Deliver support to Tier 2 and Tier 3 clients and ensure follow-up. Manage and supply stop smoking treatments during sessions. Promote clinics and outreach activities to maintain engagement and meet KPIs. Build strong relationships with health services, community organisations and workplaces. Deliver presentations and training sessions to professionals and stakeholders. Support smoking prevention initiatives for children and young people. Mentor volunteers and primary care staff. Maintain equipment (e.g. CO monitors) and restock adviser treatment supplies. Work flexibly to meet commissioner demand and service targets. Qualifications NCSCT trained Smoking Cessation Advisor (essential) Qualification in Health Promotion, Health Improvement, Health Inequalities, Health Psychology or equivalent relevant experience (desirable) Experience in smoking cessation, behaviour change and health improvement Experience working in a target-driven environment and achieving KPIs IT skills and experience maintaining electronic client records Knowledge of NICE guidance, NCSCT standards and evidence-based stop smoking treatment programmes Understanding of smoking harms, addiction, withdrawal, relapse and harm reduction approaches Experience assessing and managing complex cessation cases Client engagement and motivational skills Excellent planning, organisation and time management Ability to travel between sites with required equipment Experience delivering health and wellbeing programmes or training (desirable) Knowledge of motivational interviewing, health coaching or COM-B (desirable) Innovative approach to digital or remote service delivery (desirable) Non-smoker or ex-smoker Required Skills Passionate about health improvement and supporting behaviour change.
