We’re looking for a paralegal to join our busy family law team. This role will include assisting senior fee earners with a large case load, in a large team. The caseload is predominantly Care work.
Responsibilities
- Opening files
- Day to day assistance for the team
- Updating clients on case progress
- Communicating with courts, experts and agencies
- Appointment making
- Taking and making calls
- Preparing bundles of documents for hearings
- Dealing with clients both in person and remotely where necessary
- General legal and admin support
- Diary management
- Attending court assisting counsel and/or clients
- Carrying out legal aid assessments and applications
- Taking client appointments and initial instructions
The right person for this job will
- Be a self-starter and always ready to get involved
- Good with people
- Work well within a vibrant team
- Be flexible and able to accommodate client or team needs
- Have great time management skills and be able to prioritise heavy workloads
It is preferable to have at least 12 months experience working in a family law team. Experience of Case Management Systems and Laserforms (essential). Experience of Legal Aid Agency Portal (CCMS) (essential). Experience of Excel spreadsheets (desirable).
This role will be based in our Prescot office. Hybrid working is available for discussion, after probationary period is successfully passed. Please note, long-term this role will require office-based working for at least part of the week. Please note interviews may take place in person or via video call.
