Role Description This is a full-time, Class 1 Bulk Tipper Driver role based in Lancaster. The driver will be responsible for safely operating Class 1 HGV bulk tipper vehicles to transport metal and related materials between the company site, customer locations, and other facilities. Day-to-day tasks include completing pre-use vehicle checks, loading and unloading bulk materials in line with site procedures, and following all safety and environmental guidelines. The role involves planning routes, adhering to driving regulations, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and communicating effectively with the transport office and yard staff. The driver will also help ensure vehicles are kept clean and in good working order, reporting any defects promptly and supporting efficient yard operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV licence, up-to-date Driver CPC, and a clean or low-points driving record.
  • Experience operating bulk tipper vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles, preferably in recycling, construction, or industrial transport.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including load security, safe tipping procedures, and compliance with road transport regulations.
  • Ability to read and complete delivery notes and transport paperwork accurately, with good attention to detail.
  • Reliable time management skills, with the ability to follow schedules while maintaining safe driving standards.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with dispatch, yard teams, and customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently on the road and cooperatively as part of an on-site team in a busy yard environment.
