We are seeking an enthusiastic and well‑organised General Practice Assistant to work within Mid Furness PCN. The post-holder will work closely with the GP who is the PCN Clinical Director and will benefit the GP practices within the PCN. You will develop strong relationships across our practices while working largely from the PCN Hub, with scope to work from practices and conduct home visits as required.

Job responsibilities:

  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow‑up appointments.
  • Completing simple clinical observations & investigations such as dipstick urine, blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy.
  • Supporting the GP with immunisations, wound care and the COVID vaccination programme.
  • Completing basic (non‑opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for GP approval.
  • Supporting the achievement of QOF and Impact & Investment Fund indicators.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with wider practice teams.
  • Carrying out simple clinical work to support practices, such as blood pressure measurement.
  • Supporting administration for the Covid Vaccination Programme.
  • Communicating in a friendly and professional manner with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Using technology efficiently and being willing to learn new skills and adapt to GP needs.
  • Maintaining good timekeeping, meeting deadlines and working under time pressure.
  • Participating in annual performance reviews, maintaining personal development records and attending relevant updates.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE grade A‑C equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development in previous roles.

Experience:

  • Experience in general practice.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to identify professional boundaries and know what to do when they have been reached.
  • Understanding of a Primary Care Network.
  • Previous experience in primary care or a similar role.
  • Experience using EMIS.
