The Role
- Setting and operating 5-axis laser machinery
- Running programs created offline by the CAD Manager
- Modifying programs using the machine control screen or hand-held teach box
- Completing machine datum setting and re-datum procedures when required
- Producing first-off components and completing inspection documentation
- Checking manufactured parts against engineering drawings and specifications
- Monitoring production quality throughout the manufacturing process
- Identifying and resolving machine, programming and production issues
- Completing basic machine checks and routine maintenance
- Ensuring components are produced accurately and efficiently
- Following all health and safety, quality and manufacturing procedures
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience setting and operating 5-axis laser machinery
- Experience modifying programs directly at the machine
- Confidence using machine control systems or hand-held teach boxes
- Experience completing first-off inspections
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- A good understanding of machine datum setting
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A quality-focused approach to manufacturing
- The ability to work independently and as part of a production team
