Retro Garage, working alongside SGF Logistics, is looking for a professional and reliable 7.5t HGV Driver to join our growing specialist vehicle transportation operation based in Leek, Staffordshire. This is not a general multi-drop driving position. We transport classic, historic, prestige, performance and specialist vehicles for private owners, dealerships, auctions, collectors and other automotive organisations throughout the UK. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and understands that the vehicle being transported may be extremely valuable, rare or of significant sentimental importance to its owner.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving a 7.5t specialist vehicle transporter throughout the UK
- Safe loading, securing, transportation and unloading of vehicles
- Carrying out vehicle condition checks before collection and delivery
- Taking clear photographs and completing digital handover records
- Treating customer vehicles with exceptional care and attention
- Communicating professionally with customers, dealerships, auction houses and other collection/delivery locations
- Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting defects promptly
- Maintaining a clean and professional transporter and working environment
- Working within Drivers' Hours, Working Time and tachograph regulations
- Representing Retro Garage and SGF Logistics professionally at all times
What We're Looking For
Applicants should hold a valid Category C1 or Category C licence, together with a valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card. Previous experience transporting vehicles is desirable, particularly classic, prestige, performance or specialist vehicles, although we will consider experienced HGV drivers with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
You should be:
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Confident driving a 7.5t vehicle over long distances
- Comfortable loading and securing vehicles safely
- Physically capable of carrying out loading and securing duties
- Customer-focused with good communication skills
- Able to work independently and use good judgement
- Careful and methodical when completing vehicle inspections
- Flexible regarding working hours and nationwide collections/deliveries
- Proud of maintaining high professional standards
A good knowledge of classic and specialist vehicles would be an advantage.
