More House School is firmly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Administrator to provide short-term capacity within our Finance Department during a period of operational transition. Working closely with the Finance Manager and two Finance Assistants, the postholder will provide hands-on support across the full range of day-to-day finance operations. The role requires someone confident, adaptable, and able to step into both finance assistant duties and selected elements of the Finance Manager’s routine workload. Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and MS Excel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable, Procurement, Budgets
- Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
- Resolve supplier queries and liaise with internal budget holders as required.
- Manage purchase orders, including creation, matching, coding, and review.
- Manage budget nominal codes, providing information to budget holders as required.
- Accounts Receivable, Treasury, General Ledger
- Support the administration of school fees, including fee invoice recording/processing.
- Monitor and manage debtors, following up outstanding balances where required.
- Process bank receipts and payments.
- Carry out bank, control account, and other nominal reconciliations.
- Prepare routine and adhoc financial reports and summaries.
- Month End, Year End Audit, VAT
- Assist with month-end and year-end cycles including BS recs, reports, journals.
- Assist in regular audit preparation of BS and P&L reconciliations.
- Assist in tax code transaction review for quarterly VAT returns.
- Systems & Compliance
- Maintain accurate financial records on Sage 50, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Support data quality, filing, and documentation control within the finance office.
- Assist with implementing finance process improvements during the transition period.
- General Duties
- Provide cover across the finance team and take on tasks typically completed by Finance Assistants.
- Undertake some elements of the Finance Manager’s workload such as transaction review/queries.
- Respond to internal and external queries professionally and efficiently.
- Contribute to a collaborative, positive working environment within the Finance Team.
This is a temporary post designed to provide short‑term capacity during an operational transition.
Conditions of Service
- Length of contract - 3 months
- Hourly salary, Between £15-£18 per hour, depending on experience.

A key responsibility of all adults working within the School is that of ensuring the effective safeguarding of all children and young people, through adherence to the School’s policies; full-training is given.
