# Senior Library & Information OfficerRef no:: MOR11430Published:: 09/01/2026Closes:: 16/01/2026Location:: Forres Library, High Street, Forres, Moray, IV36 1BUSalary:: £31,630.30 – £33,873.45 per yearContract Type:: PermanentPosition Type:: Full TimeHours:: 36.25 hours per weekWork From Home:: Hybrid## Job DescriptionTo coordinate delivery of a high quality library service, and supervise the day to day operation of library buildings within designated areasTo provide excellent customer service, promote the aims of the library service and deliver a range of services and activities in accordance with Council Policy, Local Outcome Improvement Plan, Libraries Team Plan, and customer service standards.## ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the daily operations of the library, to deliver a quality, customer focussed serviceProvide supervision and direction to library staff, with responsibility for recruitment, training, development and performance of staff and volunteersDevelop relationships and partnerships locally with other Council departments, community groups, schools and external organisations to identify opportunities for outreach & engagementWork with staff team to implement and promote a programme of events and activities for the library, which attracts and meets the need of the local communityEnsure the general safety and security of the building and that the necessary standards of health and safety are appliedEnsure that the financial and administrative procedures of the Council are accurately complied with.## The IndividualSupervisory and recent line management experienceExperience in library/information work or similar sector2 Highers6 SQA Standard Grades or Equivalent at level 3 or aboveExperience of supervising a teamExperience of delivering services to specific audiences, eg Children & Young PeopleExperience of keeping statistics and maintaining accurate financial recordsExcellent ICT skills using a wide range of applications, including digital and online toolsExperience of delivering excellent customer serviceExperience of cash handlingBroad awareness of good practice and service developments in public librariesExperience and understanding of community engagement and working with different groups and partnersLeadership & team workingEffective presentation skillsEffective written/oral communicationAdaptable to changing circumstancesEffective liaison and community involvementAbility to work flexibly, across multiple locations, to meet the needs and demands of the serviceRequired to work evenings and weekends on a rota basisThis post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
