Job Description
General Areas of Responsibility: The main duties are as follows:
- Teaching assigned classes, including preparation and correction.
- Developing the school curriculum.
- Assessing, recording, and reporting pupils\’ work.
- Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration.
- Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational issues.
- Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare, and safety of pupils.
- Collaborating with parents, support staff, and other professionals.
- Undertaking appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Participating in school planning, raising achievement, and individual review.
- Contributing to the good order and wider needs of the school.
Specific Responsibilities: All Principal Teachers (Curriculum/Pastoral) are responsible for duties outlined in Annex B of \”A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century\”:
- Leadership, management, and strategic direction of colleagues.
- Curriculum development and quality assurance.
- Development of school policies on behaviour management.
- Management and guidance of colleagues.
- Reviewing CPD needs, career development, and performance of colleagues.
- Providing advice, support, and guidance to colleagues.
- Leadership of pastoral care within the school.
- Development of policies related to guidance, pastoral care, assessment, and pupil welfare.
- Managing and developing pastoral care staff.
- Implementing whole-school policies on guidance, pastoral care, assessment, and pupil welfare.
- Collaborating with colleagues, parents, other agencies, and schools as appropriate.
Additional Information: A relocation package of £5400 (excluding VAT) may be available for this position.
