Our Occupational Therapy Team sits within Community Care and works to maximise independence for adults and children throughout Moray. We provide specialist, holistic assessments and focus on providing Occupational therapy input in a wide range of situations. Our work informs Social Work assessments for care; we support people when they are adapting their home, provide specialist equipment and we advise and guide carers and clients so they are able to live as independently and with as much freedom as possible.

We are looking for a Community Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dedicated team in Moray. This role involves supporting individuals with physical disabilities by assessing their needs and providing essential equipment and adaptations to enhance their daily living.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or social care setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of self, other staff and service users as defined by Council policy and other relevant documentation and training.
  • To cooperate with the Council in ensuring that health and safety duties are complied with.

This post is considered to be a \’Regulated Role\’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to determine individuals\’ needs and recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations.
  • Provide guidance to clients and their carers on the safe use of equipment.
  • Manage a caseload under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Order necessary equipment and ensure timely delivery to clients.
  • Promote falls prevention strategies and support individuals in maintaining independence.

Starting Salary: £28,520.05 (pro rata)

£15.13 per hour

30 hours per week

Under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure Check.
