Job Description

The work will entail a variety of tasks at the Gollachy Household Waste Recycling Centre which is located in Buckie. The postholder will work under instruction from the Disposal Chargehand / Team Leader (Transfer) and may be asked to undertake other duties on a rota system.

Responsibilities

Acceptance and storage of controlled waste arriving at the Council’s disposal facilities

Use of plant, and equipment

Refuse Collection / Processing

General Disposal Duties

To ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are applied

The Individual

Previous employment of a similar nature i.e. predominantly labour intensive

Must have a basic level of literacy in order to read and act on instruction

Knowledge of general plant & vehicle maintenance

Able to work unsupervised under instruction and as part of an effective team

Ability to follow routines and instructions and own initiative when required

Self-confident and self-motivated

Adaptable

Ability to follow routines and instructions

Basic recording / reporting skills

Able to operate Earthmoving plant & Forklift truck

Able to communicate with members of the public

Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the practice of good team working Willingness to accept direction / delegation

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service

Physically capable of general labouring duties and a small amount of handling large / heavy / awkward items and able to work outdoors in inclement conditions

Closing Date: 4th July 2025

Hourly Rate: £13.63

Working Pattern: 37 hours / Tuesday – Saturday
