To assist in the provision of a comprehensive Human Resources Support and Advisory Service. The role will include providing advice on various subjects to other Departments and involve some project work related to making a contribution to the development of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

The Individual

  • Experience in a generalist human resources role, with experience/knowledge of:
    • Industrial relations problems
    • Advising on and attending disciplinary hearings and investigations
    • Preparation of contracts of employment and provision of advice on conditions of service issues
    • Advising managers and employees
    • Trade Union consultation
  • Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
  • Associate Member of CIPD
  • Understanding of current human resources and local authority issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, including in challenging conversations
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • IT literate with experience of standard office and HR systems
  • Knowledge of employment law legislation and ability to relate it to practical issues
  • Ability to gain trust and confidence of managers
  • Ability to work accurately and to accept responsibility
  • Sound knowledge of good practice and ability to give constructive advice under pressure
  • Confident and professional approach
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including in challenging or sensitive situations
  • Ability to maintain professional confidence and judgement when working in challenging or pressurised situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times
  • Ability to relate effectively to people at all levels across the organisation
  • Ability to facilitate discussions, meetings or briefings with managers or groups
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, or ability to travel independently between schools and Council locations across Moray
