To carry out the duties of a Standard Craft Operative (SCO) Painter and to contribute to the provision of an efficient and effective maintenance service.

Responsibilities:

  • To undertake craft duties as directed by the Repairs/Voids/Contracts Supervisor.
  • To participate in alternative shift pattern rotas.
  • To undertake training as required.
  • To comply with all Health and Safety and security procedures and guidelines.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably expected from time to time.

The Individual:

  • Time Served Painter & Decorator or able to demonstrate required competencies.
  • Minimum of SVQ Level 3 in Painting & Decorating/ Tiling or equal.
  • Capable of working on own or as a team member.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Good all round knowledge of decoration and general construction works.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to be diplomatic with clients/staff.
  • Be polite and of tidy appearance.
  • Ability to show high level of customer care.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the practice of good team working.
  • Able to undertake all the duties of the post.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Building Services team at the DLO, that directly employ over 150 multi trade and specialist support staff. Services provided include building maintenance and improvement services to the Council’s 6,300 houses, as well as reactive and planned maintenance to other Council buildings that include schools, offices and libraries.

Closing Date: 03 July 2026

Starting Salary: £32,554.08 per annum (Top of Grade) £16.92 per hour 37hrs per week
