The Payments Officer is responsible for the day to day operational performance of the Payments team. This includes organising and monitoring the workload and developing the necessary procedures and processes to enable the team to carry out their duties efficiently and timeously.
Requirements
- To monitor and organise the workload and customer support of the Payments function
- Process VAT, CIS and other tax returns
- Administer the Council's Purchasing Card Programme
- Administer the Council's Income Management system
- Support FMS maintenance and development and implementation of new processes
- To develop and provide training for staff
- Handle enquiries, both written and verbal
The Individual
- Significant experience within large finance section
- Finance/Administration HND/HNC or AAT qualifications
- Computer literate with good spreadsheet skills, preferably MS Excel
- Able to organise personal workload to meet set deadlines
- Self-confident and self-motivated
- Knowledge of finance processes
- A flexible approach to new working practises and technology
- Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality
- Able to work as part of a team and using own initiative
- Effective communicator β verbal and written
- Analytical and research skills
