Are you an aspirational and highly skilled Depute Head Teacher or forward-thinking and experienced Head Teacher, looking to take the next step on your leadership journey? New Elgin Primary School is looking for a lead learner to join them as their Head Teacher and become an integral part of their inclusive and relational school community.
New Elgin Primary School dates back to 1905, built as a small village school for the small settlement of New Elgin at the time. Due to growth of Elgin, New Elgin is now part of wider Elgin and the school itself is non-denominational and supports pupils from Nursery to Primary 7, with support for pupils requiring enhanced provision also provided. The current school roll stands at 376 pupils with physical capacity within the school for 534 pupils.
The Senior Leadership Team currently consists of the Head Teacher and two Depute Head Teachers. There are 14 class teachers for 14 classes formed, with 1.6 fte MCrone cover, 4.4 fte Support for Learning, 1 part-time Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, 22 Pupil Support Assistants (PSAs), 1 Classroom Assistant, 5 Lunchtime Supervisors and 1 Janitor forming the wider staff team where through wider Pupil Equity Funding, 3 PSAs and a Pupil Support Worker are also in post. The school’s Enhanced Provision is located within the Learning Hub building and offers an adapted curriculum for pupils requiring additional support.
Requirements
To provide professional leadership and management of the school ensuring the safety of all pupils and conducting the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the education authority under the overall direction of the Head of Education (Chief Education Officer).

The Individual
£85,047 subject to job-sizing. This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
A relocation package of £5400 (exclusive of VAT) may be available for this post.
